CCS Help Line

The following CCS members have volunteered to assist other CCS members with computer problems. Remember, these people are giving up their valuable time to help you solve your problem. These helpers have not been screened regarding their subject knowledge. Their qualification is a willingness to help. Here are some suggestions to make the trouble resolution process go smoothly.

1. Read the manual and help screens. This may give you a clue on the cause of the problem. It will also help you tell about the problem.

2. Be able to answer the following questions: What were you working on? What did you then do? What was the result? Can the problem be repeated or is this an isolated incident?

3. Contact a help person via e-mail describing the problem and asking for a reply. If a phone call is necessary, ask when you can call (helpers are not paid for their time or phone bills). Keep the call to the point realizing the helper is giving up

4. If an e-mail is not a viable option, please observe the coding by each person’s name and abide by any restrictions.

If you have a problem with the help you do or do not get, detail a message to any member of CCS’s Board of Directors including the date, who you were having the problem with, what the problem is and what they are telling you (be brief and as complete as possible) so we can properly investigate. Without this information, nothing will change.

If you are interested in volunteering to answer member’s questions, fill in the forms for this purpose at chapter meetings, leave a message at ccsadmin@megsinet or all Beata Kernan, (708) 588-0385.

The code designations before each phone number indicates each volunteers availability for the Help Line. Please respect these calling times.

A = Anytime E = 6p-10p (Evening) W = Mon-Fri 6 = Monday thru Saturday
B = 9a-10p (Day & Evening) F = M-F 6P - 9P X = Except Sat & Sun evening 7 = Monday thru Sunday
D = 9a-5p (Days) S = Sat-Sun only Y = Sunday only OT = Other Times
  T = Sat/Sun 10A—5P Z = Saturday only
