Unless you know something I
don't, the Inauguration does not flip a switch and invalidate all
existing FCC Rules. It takes time to change these rules, even with
a hostile administration in place. And there can still be
successful court challenges to any changes.
What Is the Significance of Windows
Folder Names With Hex Numbers in Them?
Nice start, but the article
still does not say what these folders are and whether it's safe to
delete them. GUID and CLSID are not descriptive of the content and
purpose of these files or folders.
Where I see a lot of these
hex-named folders is in programs which rely on Java. Also in
Windows Updates and their Uninstall Info. It used to be that the
Windows Updates Uninstall Info folders were in a separate area of
Windows, with $ as the lead character, before the brackets. But
since Widnows 8, this is no longer the case. This makes Disk
Cleanup's Clean Up Windows Updates more difficult to run. And less
space is recovered by running it.
I'd like more information on
this subject than this article provides.
Panel to Trump: Train 100,000 hackers
Nice click-bait. But IT
Professionals specializing in cyber security is a far cry from
100,000 hackers. IT Security specialists are not doing what we
usually think of (and Hollywood portrays) as hacking. The need to
have internationally understood rules of engagement in cyber
security to avoid an accidental cyber war is obvious, with the
recent rumors about interference in the US Elections.
Why Does My Windows 10 Home Edition
Have Remote Desktop and BitLocker?
Incomplete answer again in
the article. The part about Remote Desktop is complete, but
Bitlocker in the Home Editions of Windows 8 and 10 needs further
Windows Home Editions do not
support generating or locally storing your own Bitlocker security
keys. The locking and unlocking only work from an Administrator
Account, and only if you maintain it as a Microsoft Cloud Account.
Your Bitlocker encryption keys are generated and stored in your
Microsoft Cloud Account, and to use them, you must be logged into
that Account Type. With Admin. Privileges.
These and other reasons would
make me unlikely to recommend activating "Bitlocker" in the
Windows Home Edition. If you want device encryption, use something
like Veracrypt or else move up to Windows Pro.
Latest Chrome Update Blocks Flash in
Favor of HTML5
Not entirely true. Chrome 55
by default won't play Flash content automatically. You can still
enable it, but you choose when and what to allow. And you can
always go to Chrome://plugins and check off Always Allow to enable
Flash Player (not recommended).

This Cheap, DIY MagSafe-Like Connector
Secures Loose Laptop Cables
This does not give a safe
magnetic connection like Macs and other Apple devices have used
for years. The connection is still a regular plug inserted into
the port. The device can still be dragged off a table or a desk
onto the floor. If you have a connector and a port which are this
badly mismatched, there is a real danger of electrical arcing,
which will destroy your electronics to an uncertain, but
definitely tragic extent.

Trump transition team vice-chair says
ISPs should be obligated to take ‘fake news’ sites offline
That's easier said than done.
Fake News often circulates within social media sites like
Facebook, Twitter and others. It is possible to take down
accounts, but the entire site can't be taken down for one fake
story, or even many of them. Also, who determines what is "fake"
and what is "real" news? I sure hope that would not be the
Government! (Trump has already accused NBC News in general and
Katy Tur specifically of putting out Fake News.)
