FYI#1183 (Fri 2/24/2018)
(NOTE:
I have just tried switching my Chromebook from Gallium OS (Xubuntu
derivative) to Fedora 27 Xfce spin. So far there are issues, but
about the same level of frustration as Gallium OS. I switched
because the Fedora kernel is more up to date and probably more
secure than the Gallium OS kernel. I may switch back because I am
not liking Fedora and its software as well as the more familiar
repositories and installation methods of Gallium OS. Chrome
OS is still in there, and I should probably update it once in
awhile.)

How to play
DVDs in Windows 10 for free
VLC Player
(the desktop app, not the UWP Windows Store App) does have this
capability for most CDs and DVDs. Not much of anyone else will do
this for free.
How to fix
broken USB install damaging your Linux dual boot
I don't
suppose anyone runs integrity checks (at least getting a hash
output) before using USB installers anymore, do they? Not that
this would catch all reasons why USB installers sometimes crap out
midstream. I have a live Linux USB or two, plus Clonezilla backups
(just made one of my new Fedora Chromebook Linux install) along
with gParted Live, just in case anything bad happens.
Antivirus scanning and regular backups and data archiving are just
as important for Linux users as for Windows users. More so if you
like to experiment with Linux. (I also made a recovery drive for
Chrome OS OEM for my Chromebook, in case things really go south.)
Why Does
NVIDIA Store Gigabytes of Installer Files On Your Hard Drive?
Windows Disk
Cleanup probably does not touch this as it's a third-party cache.
But CCleaner as noted in the article, can be set up to clear away
these files. One of the few reasons to still use a disk cleanup
utility in Window
s 10.

Actually,
it's a lot like lightning. Contrary to popular myth, lightning
